BoE invited Students Who Passed the Study Period Limit in Monitoring and Evaluation Meeting
Bachelor of English (BoE) conducted monitoring and evaluation for students who have passed the ideal study period. The monitoring was conducted on Wednesday, February 16th 2022 through online meeting. In this occasion, the Coordinator of BoE also invited the head of Faculty’s Quality Assurance Unit, the sub-coordinator of academic affairs, as well as the study program’s “SIMAK” operator.
The meeting was aimed for students who have passed 10 semesters, and this become a serious concern for BoE. Those students are categorized as those who will be dropped out. BoE considers persuasive approach is necessary to solve this problem.
Silvia Damayanthi, S.S., M.Hum., the head of the Faculty’s Quality Assurance Unit, explained that currently, Udayana University has a strict policy related to length of the study period. The policy is listed in the Academic Guidelines of the university. It states that the length of study for undergraduate students is a maximum of seven years. She said, “Currently, Unud is very strict in terms of length of study period. Once the maximum study period has been set, the system will automatically block the student data dan declare the Drop Out status”. Therefore, she hopes that students who still have to undergo a long process to graduate, to be more focus on completing their undergraduate thesis. Since, their study period may affect BoE’s performance indicators.
In the occasion, BoE’s coordinator, Dr. I Wayan Mulyawan, S.S., M.Hum. stated that BoE will encourage all students who have passed the study period limit to complete their study as soon as possible. “BoE is committed to help students who have strong determination to complete their study. Of course, it will also require student’s motivation. Therefore, we will not help those who does not have strong commitment to complete their study,” said Dr. Mulyawan.
Through
the meeting, in collaboration with the faculty’s academic affairs, the
students’ data was matched by calling out the students who were listed
and their problems in completing their study was evaluated. In general,
the problem faced by the students is internal in nature. Some of the
students admit that they are busy working so that it is hard for them to
manage their time to complete their undergraduate thesis. To overcome
the situation, the students are expected to always keep in touch with
their supervisors as well as to prioritize the completion of their
undergraduate thesis.
