Teaching and Learning
Any learning activity is aimed at aligning it to the achievement of the ELO. The learning system of the study program is built on planning that is relevant to the objectives, learning domain, and hierarchy. The learning process is carried out using various strategies and techniques with the aim of encouraging students to think critically, to explore, to be creative and to experiment with the use of various sources. Main content of teaching and learning strategies focus on student-centered learning including theory incorporated with practice, role playing, peer review, discussion, task-based approaches, and project-based approaches. Also, in order to enable students to apply what they have learned in classroom to the real world, language experience and practical training are implemented. To make students become more dynamic and active, shifting from traditional teaching methods to active teaching methods (brainstorming, problem-based exercises, home reference reading, etc.) is done to create more conducive interaction. The lecturers give useful input or necessary foundation from the theoretical elements of any courses to the students. Then the students will be allowed to apply their theoretical knowledge in problem solving situation.
In addition to theoretical lectures and task-based / project-based approaches, language experience is applied in some courses to gain firsthand knowledge away from the classroom. For example, in Performing Arts: Drama and Poetry, apart from theoretical lectures in classroom, students have to create a play in English. In order to do that, they have to organize everything by themselves. In relation to the use of technology, the teaching and learning process in the classroom have been supported by facilities and capabilities in the field of adequate technology such as the use of LCD and power point, blog, and the availability of campus internet facilities with sufficient network.
