History
The English Study Program was established in academic year 1962/1963. It is one of the study programs developed by the Faculty of Arts, Udayana University, that currently manages eight (8) undergraduate study programs including Study Program of Indonesian, Balinese Language and Literature, Old Javanese, English, Japanese, Archeology, Anthropology, and History, and four (4) postgraduate programs including Magister and Doctoral programs of Linguistics and Cultural Studies.
In its overall academic and supporting activities the English Study Program has run the procedures of quality assurance very well and for the second time in 2016 received “A” accreditation from the National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN-PT). The accomplishment of “A” predicate from BAN-PT accreditation does not mean that the highest performance has been achieved, but still requires systematic and continuous hard work to maintain and improve quality in the whole process of education and learning. It is felt necessary that continuous improvement should always be endeavoured due to the fact that, on the one hand, the demands of stakeholders are always changing and evolving according to changes in science and technology and those changes require anticipation and adaptation through systematic and sustainable quality assurance. On the other hand, Udayana University has set out to continuously improve its achievements so as to achieve a World Class University status through strengthening governance, national and international competitiveness.
As an accredited “A” study program, in addition to maintaining that achievement, the next targeted upgrading step is to obtain regional certification, in this case the AUN-QA Certification. The AUN-QA Certification Program is useful in maintaining and upgrading or developing a quality assurance process in accordance with national standards (BAN-PT), as well as integrating it with regional (ASEAN) standards that will, of course, enhance the institutional image and make it possible for establishing mutual educational cooperation with English study program found within ASEAN universities in the forms of resource sharing, student exchange or credit transfer.
