Inauguration Day of English Department Students (INDEED 2023)
The Faculty of Humanities' English Department Students Association hosted an inauguration event to welcome new students for the 2022 academic year on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. INDEED (Inauguration Day of English Department Students) 2023 activities were conducted offline in two locations. The first activity was opening ceremony, conducted at Widya Sabha Mandala Auditorium, Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University. Following that, there were 4P program (Teaching, Cleaning, Planting, and Procurement), dedication program, social gathering, and inaugural night. That activities were held at Erjeruk Temple, Sukawati, Gianyar. Furthermore, there are teaching program took place at SDN 7 Sukawati.
As for the series of INDEED 2023 opening events, it was attended by Deputy Dean 1 who replaced the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities who was unable to attend, accompanied by the Coordinator of the English Department, the Supervisor of the English Department Students Association, Chair of SMFIB & BPMFIB, Chair of HMPSSI 2023, all chairmen of the association study program within the Faculty of Humanities.
The event began with the opening and remarks from the chairman of the committee, chairman of HMPSSI, and the coordinator of the English Department, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Mulyawan, S.S., M.Hum in his remarks he emphasized that the meaning of the INDEED activity itself was the acceptance of new students, especially the class of 2022 within the scope of the English Department so that they are ready to dive into something in the future organization, besides that he mentioned that the activity was a form of HMPSSI's work program to establish intimacy and a sense of kinship between students and also English Department lecturers.
Furthermore, the opening ceremony was carried out by vice dean 1, I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S, M.A, Ph.D. At the same time released the INDEED 2023 participants to go to the place of implementation of the activity. In his remarks, he reiterated that the coordinator of the English Department said that the INDEED activity was held to introduce the English Department family and existing organizations. After giving a greeting, vice dean 1, I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S, M.A, Ph.D., pinning nametags to representatives of INDEED 2023 participants as a symbol that the INDEED 2023 activities have officially opened.
"Like what the head of the committee and the coordinating department said earlier, the INDEED 2023 activity aims to accept and inaugurate English Department students, especially batch 22 in the organizational realm at the study program level." Said vice dean 1, I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S, M.A, Ph.D.
The first of the INDEED 2023 participants' community service projects, which involved teaching was completed at SDN 7 Sukawati. The Coordinated Study Program and an English literature lecturer from Udayana University's Faculty of Humanities were with us. We asked 20 volunteers to personally participate in the teaching process by sharing their knowledge and experiences with the students at SDN 7 Sukawati. Where the extended SDN 7 Sukawati family welcomed us with open arms.
We conduct planting, cleaning, and procurement initiatives in the vicinity of the Erjeruk Temple in Sukawati, Gianyar, in addition to educating. Also, the Pemangku and Pengempon of the Erjeruk temple were present throughout this activity. In fact, work was done on the temple grounds and in front of Wantilan to plant nagasari, sandat, squiggly flower plants, and numerous attractive plants. Procurement in the form of giving garbage cans, cleaning supplies, parking restriction signs, and instructions for traditional temple attire. We also clean the places around the temple, outside the temple, and in wantilan.
Regarding the pleasant activities, 3 speakers were presented. The first speaker was the student association chair for the 2023 English Department Students Association. He explained the Core ranks and Metamorph Cabinet Coordinators as well as the departmental-level organization known as HMPSSI. We also invited Pekaseh Gede, a speaker from the Erjeruk, Sukawati Temple in Gianyar, to speak. He provided background information about the Erjeruk Temple. The Coordinator of the English Department delivered the final speech, and he led a sharing session with the INDEED 2023 participants—English Literature students from the class of 2022.
During the social event, INDEED 2023 participants prepared for the inauguration night. The vice chairman of the committee started it together with the student oath and burned a bonfire as a representation of the inaugural night. Afterward, each group of INDEED 2023 members performed their work.
Following that, prizes were given to several categories that had been prepared. In the shape of the most excellent participants, groups, and performances.
The Head of the INDEED 2023 Committee terminated the activity, and the Head of the 2023 English Literary Study Program Association released the participant nametags to signal the conclusion of the INDEED 2023 activity.
